somewhere between hating and loving you I think I understand what makes missing special moves feel so... bad. Because, like, I'm used to normal video games where a missed input leads to some kind of lost state, that's normal. But turn-based RPGs, I would argue, are meant to be about planning. You read the situation and you plan your next moves, see what happens, and then you move on from there on the next turn. The OSU skill demands, however, make it so that you cannot necessarily plan accurately. You set up this machine with expectations for the next turn, but then a mistake can render the whole operation moot for a whole turn. And that feels not good.
