thanks pizzapony for reminding me to do something like this. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16bit) is the first instance of Super Sonic both as a concept and as a playable thing. Eventually this becomes less of a weird to control bonus and more of a thing when the story becomes more important in these games.
